P5(a) Logging Rushes and Creating Edit Decision List
Meaning: Logging rushes and creating edit decision list is the preparing procedure of a media project, which means how the project is being organised, such as shot list.
Purpose: The purpose for this section is to show how I organise my project from the beginning and the reason of each step.
For this project I have chose Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 to edit my videos because it is very useful, it has got all the effects I need and a big working area for me to add layers to the video. It has also got some nice colour editing too so the video looks more interesting and comfortable for the audience to watch it.
Aspect Ratio
The meaning of aspect ratio is the ratio of the width or the length of an image or screen.
(Resource: https://www.google.co.uk/#safe=strict&q=aspect+ratio)
Here above is an example of the aspect ratio. As we can see, there is different size of displays and they are for different uses, for example computer displays or cinema film. It is very important to get the aspect ratio setting right for my advert at the beginning of the edit, because it affects how the screen look, and and how clear it is. For example, if we use the Computer Displays, which is the first one as the aspect ratio for my advert, it will be too small for it, and black bars at the bottom or above will appear, which is not very nice, or it might be too small so some part of the video has to be cropped out, which means I have less space to edit and make changes on.
To be more organised, I have opened a folder to store all my clips from the filming, so I can find them through my desktop and knowing where they are stored.
Apart from storing them into a folder, I also name my clips according to the content of it, for example "Ain't gonna worry", this is the name of the first clip, this is named after a lyric from the song that I am using as the background, and also the act that the model did for that scene, it is done to remind myself which clip it is, so I could edit them easier without checking which scene it is, also I could make changes according to these named clips.
To avoid this from happening, I have to pay more attention to the aspect ratio setting before I start editing my project.
It is very important to set up the project properly, because this affects the quality of the video and the size of the frame after exporting the finished video. I have put the setting to HDV, so it is in the highest quality, and to be very clear for the audiences to watch.
Before starting editing the video, I have to import the videos, photos and effects to the app, so that I could start working with them. First I go to "File" > "Import"> and the file I need.
This is where I keep my files and import them to Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.
After importing the files, I will rename the videos, so it is easier for me to edit and I do not have to review each video to see what it is about.
